What is Masters Swimming?
The word Masters was first applied to adults who participated in track and field and was later adopted in organized adult swimming. In swimming, Masters simply means 18 and older. Masters swimming is suitable for both competitive and non-competitive, fitness swimmers.
How is the membership fee determined?
Our membership fee is determined once our budget for pool time, coaching, lifeguards and insurance has been calculated, and we have a projected membership based on the past year(s). DSC is non-profit and our membership fees reflect the minimum we require to operate, with a small cushion for eventualities and social events.
I CAN'T MAKE IT TO ALL THE PRACTICES EVERY WEEK. DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS OR A PAY-PER-SWIM OPTION?
The DSC offers extremely competitive pricing. Other clubs offering 2 practices a week are still more expensive than ours offering up to 6 practices a week. At just over $3.00 per swim, our expertly coached practices are cheaper than some public lane swims. As a Masters swim club, we encourage members to commit to a regular workout routine and do not offer a pay-per-swim option. Instead, we offer a 3x trial swim period so you can assess the benefits and how to fit our schedule to yours, before making the commitment.
DO I HAVE TO PAY POOL MEMBERSHIP / ADMISSION ON TOP OF MY DSC MEMBERSHIP FEE?
No, we have permits for all our practices (we book out the whole pool) so our members do not have to pay separate memberships for facilities. The membership price displayed on our site is all you have to pay to swim.
What is the pro-rated fee if i join midway through the current season?
Our 2024-25 season runs Sep 3, 2024 – Aug 28, 2025. We cannot accept new members in August. The fees below include HST and a mandatory insurance fee of $15.00. Members who wish to compete in Swim Ontario-sanctioned swim meets will need to pay an additional $47.57.

I DON'T KNOW ANYONE IN THE CLUB
Most of our members didn't know anyone in the club before they started, but our team is very warm and welcoming. Friendship takes time to build, but once you start coming to practices and socials, no one will even know you're new anymore!
does DSC accommodate transgender people?
Downtown Swim Club is a proud part of the 2SLGBTQI community: the swim club is inclusive and non-discriminatory with regard to self-identification. Shaming is not tolerated. Our practices are held in facilities where members are free to select their change room of choice and have every right to feel comfortable as they are.
Note the change room designations for the following pools:

- Wellesley Community Centre (Wednesdays) - universal
